About me

Thank you for reading my blog.

I have been an avid reader since an early age. Reading Irving Stone’s work about Vincent Van Gogh as a teen, then visiting the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam inspired me to start writing. I found a deep connection between the book and the art pieces and decided the world needed to know more about the people behind creative works. I studied journalism for a few years in Boston, where I discovered a passion for cooking. Living in Boston will do that. Learning to cook led to a degree in Culinary Arts. My fascination with history, culture, and food melded into a love for discovering new places, flavors, and old traditions.

As a Navy brat, I traveled extensively during my youth and don’t intend to stop any time soon. After we retired, my husband and I permanently relocated to the Big Island of Hawaii, a place rich in culture, tradition, and art. Learning about the local legends deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture makes life in the islands even more interesting.
