We have a new kitten who loves to outsmart our dogs. Also, cats are nocturnal, and dogs are not.
The evening started with us all going to bed – humans comfy and the dogs down around our feet. The usual. Kitten decides to join us at 2am. Dog 1 doesn’t approve and proceeds to nudge Kitten, hoping he’ll move away. Nope. Kitten decides to double down by laying on top of me. Dog 2 says to Dog 1, “it’s your problem; deal with it,” and stretches his 100+lb self, so he takes up the entire foot of the bed. Dog 1 says, “ha! I’ll show that darn Kitten,” and jumps off the bed, then back up where she plants her 70+lb self ON my pillow, pushing me off. Kitten says, “oh really?” and pounces on Dog 1, launching himself onto my head, where he gets tangled in my hair. After a minute, I manage to untangle Kitten and rearrange the animals, hoping they’ll settle. Kitten decides that’s no fun and gets off the bed. Perfect. I finally start to get comfy again when a spider drops on my head INTO MY EAR! I jump up, trying to get the stupid spider out of my ear.
All the while, I swear I can hear muffled laughter coming from hubby’s side of the bed. But to his credit, he did turn on the light to ask if I was OK. I was planning an ambitious day cleaning and doing yard work. Nope, I’m going to nap and watch movies. I’m done…
Picture of the pesky kitten for your viewing pleasure.
